40 Years and Still Amazin’
Date: August 22, 2009
In 1969, 15-year-old Howie Rose sat in the upper deck of Shea Stadium and saw Tom Seaver take a perfect game into the 9th inning only to be broken up. Forty years later, Rose presided over a ceremony where he and the rest of the “New Breed,” as they were called, celebrated that unlikely season and World Series championship. Rose later wrote about the team, “Their impact on NY, baseball, and me personally is eternal.”
