The Straw Man
If the 1980s Mets could be represented by just one player, Darryl Strawberry is a top candidate. The reliable right fielder spent eight seasons in Queens, earning All-Star honors in all but one. (He missed out in his first year, but he did win the Rookie of the Year Award.) The power hitter also won two Silver Sluggers, electrifying Shea Stadium with his towering home runs and sweet swing. As an offensive all-time great and a major player in 1986 World Series championship, Strawberry left a winning legacy with the Mets.
