Max Scherzer tossed six perfect innings while striking out nine to earn his 200th career win, a 7-2 win over the Milwaukee Brewers on the road. With the win the Mets clinched a spot in the postseason for the first time since 2016. As was typical for Scherzer, he was more focused on the team’s accomplishments. “This is what you play the game for,” said Scherzer. “We have a lot of things in front of us and we understand that. But man, you gotta celebrate the good times too.” The ball and base were from this game but the image of Scherzer is from a few weeks earlier in a home game.
