Jerry Grote offered a hand to Ed Kranepool during Game 3 of the 1969 World Series, the only game Kranepool played in during the Fall Classic. He took advantage of the opportunity, hitting an eighth-inning home run to seal a 5-0 Mets win over the Baltimore Orioles at home.

Jerry Grote was the Mets starting catcher in two pennant-winning seasons ― 1969 and 1973. He wore this jersey in the ’73 campaign. In Game 2 of the NLCS, Grote hit a critical two-RBI single to help the Mets build ninth-inning run insurance. The Mets won over the Cincinnati Reds on the road, 5-0.
