Clutch Al Weis’s Autographed Bat
Date: Undated
Al Weis saw limited play during the 1969 NLCS, but he broke out during the World Series in a big way. In Game 2, Weis hit a ninth-inning RBI single to give the Mets the late lead and eventually the 2-1 win. We don’t know when or even if he ever swung this bat, but we like to imagine it in his hands in Game 5. His solo home run tied the score in that game, pushing the Mets to a come-from-behind victory, 5-3.
