Turk’s Quirks

A journeyman reliever, Turk Wendell spent five of his eleven years in baseball with the Mets. While pitching in 285 games with a 3.34 ERA in New York, Wendell also endeared himself to fans with his odd habits, including brushing his teeth between innings and insisting that the umpire roll — not throw — a new baseball to him.
