Tommie Agee Mets Hall of Fame Bust
Date: Inducted 2002
When Tommie Agee was traded to the Mets before the 1968 season, the former Rookie of the Year provided an offensive spark the young team needed. In 1969, Agee hit the only home run ever to reach the upper deck at Shea Stadium. His hitting prowess powered the Mets to their first postseason appearance that year. Agee’s defense was as important as his offense in the World Series, when he saved runs in the outfield and added them at the plate. Agee spent three more seasons with the Mets and retired from MLB in 1973.
