The Sweet ’80s
Date: 1987 Season
The Mets had their best run of seasons during the 1980s, led by a stellar pitching staff that included Dwight Gooden, Rick Aguilera and Bob Ojeda. From 1984–1990, the Mets posted seven straight winning seasons and finished no worse than second place in the NL East. New York won the World Series in 1986 and the NL East in 1988, and if Wild Cards had been in play, the Mets would have qualified for the playoffs every season but one.
