Iconic New York sportswriter Maury Allen kept tabs on the Mets in a scorebook during the miracle 1969 season. Allen was a New York Post reporter from 1961 to 1988, covering the Yankees, Mets and other local teams. He was also a member of the Baseball Writers’ Association of America. Allen went on to write dozens of baseball and sports books about star athletes and clubs, including several works on the Mets.
