The Greatest NLCS Ever?

The 108-win Mets ran into a formidable opponent in the NL West Champion Houston Astros as they battled for the NL Pennant. Led by NL Cy Young winner Mike Scott and former Met Nolan Ryan, the Astros battled the Mets punch for punch. Scott, who won two games and was named NLCS MVP despite the Mets winning the series, outdueled Doc Gooden in Game 1. The Mets came from behind in three of their wins including dramatic walk-offs in Game 3 and Game 5 and the 16-inning marathon of Game 6 which the Mets felt was a must-win to avoid facing Scott a third time. The back and forth affair has often been named one of, if not the greatest League Championship Series in history.
