A Big Mets Mitt: 1969 World Series Glove
Date: 1969
This weathered old thing graced some of the most magical hands in Mets postseason history. Ron Swoboda made plenty of catches during the 1969 season, but none more important than the one in Game 4 of the World Series. Baltimore Oriole Brooks Robinson hit a sharp fly to right field, where Swoboda made a diving grab for the out. His quick throw to the plate limited the O’s scoring to one run, keeping the game tied at 1. The Mets would go on to win it in the 10th, 2-1, and then go on to win the Series.
