THE BACKSTOP TAKES A BOW, 2004
Date: May 5, 2004
Mike Piazza made a curtain call from the Mets dugout after breaking the MLB record for most home runs by a catcher. Piazza cranked out a first-inning dinger for his 352nd career home run as a backstop, passing National Baseball Hall of Famer Carlton Fisk. His shot contributed to an 8-2 Mets win over the San Francisco Giants at home.
