Original Shea Stadium Home Run Apple

When the Home Run Apple first appeared behind the Shea Stadium center field fence in 1980, its slogan read: “Mets Magic.” Over 28 years at the stadium, countless Mets made the 9-foot-tall apple magically rise up from the ground with home runs. The original Home Run Apple is now displayed outside of Citi Field, while a new, larger, more modern apple carries on the tradition inside the ballpark.
