Mets Official Song on CD
Date: 1996
The Mets’ official song evolved with the times. When the Mets first formed in 1962, most people listened to music on records. By the 1980s, cartridges and cassettes had taken over, and by the 1990s, the CD reigned supreme. The team tried updating lyrics as well. In 1984, the lines “bring your kiddies, bring your wife, guaranteed to have the time of your life” sounded outdated, and the team tried this version: “hot dogs, green grass all out at Shea / guaranteed to have a heck of a day.” In 2008 the team even remixed the song into a hip-hop version. Which version is your favorite?
