Cleon Jones had a career year in 1969 and it couldn’t have come at a better time. Jones was named to the All-Star team while hitting a career-best .340. At the plate and in the outfield, Jones helped the Miracle Mets reach the World Series for the first time. In Game 5, Jones led off the 8th inning with a double and scored later in the inning. In the 9th, he caught the final out to give the Mets their first world championship.
