During the 7th inning stretch, the energetic Liza Minnelli sang “New York, New York” to a stadium of appreciative fans. Although the song is traditionally played at Yankee Stadium after a New York Yankees game, the Mets faithful sang along with immense pride. This time the song wasn’t associated with the crosstown Yankees. Rather, it was an uplifting homage to the entire city.
