Keeping Contact with Millan
Date: 1973 to 1977
Three-time All-Star Felix Millan was traded from the Atlanta Braves to the Mets after the 1972 season, and he quickly became the starting second baseman on a pennant-winning team. One of the best contact hitters in modern baseball history, Millan rarely struck out. His hitting paid off in the 1973 NLCS where he recorded six hits and helped send the Mets to the World Series.
