Johnny Murphy Mets Hall of Fame Bust
Date: Inducted 1983
A native New Yorker and former New York Yankees pitcher, Johnny Murphy joined the Mets front office when the team was founded in 1962. By 1967, he was promoted to GM. Murphy assembled the final pieces of the Miracle Mets team that would shock the world by winning the Word Series in 1969. Tragically, Murphy died suddenly just months after his Mets hoisted the trophy.
