Here’s the Pitch
Date: 1984–1992
Dwight Gooden took the mound for the Mets on June 23, 1990, after a tough two months to start the season and an injury-filled 1989 campaign. All Gooden did was throw a two-hit complete game shutout against the Philadelphia Phillies at Shea Stadium. The win was part of seven wins in seven straight starts and he finished the season winning 16 of his last 18 decisions. For his efforts, Gooden placed fourth in the NL Cy Young Award voting.
