A local favorite with the Brooklyn Dodgers before the team’s departure to LA in 1958, Gil Hodges spent the final two seasons of his playing career with the expansion Mets in 1962-1963. Returning to the team as manager in 1968, he led the Mets to their first World Series victory in 1969.
