Feliciano Gave It His All
In 2004, Pedro Feliciano was a struggling reliever dividing his time between the minors and the Mets bullpen. When he finally established himself as an regular reliever, he became the most popular call to the bullpen. From 2006 — 2010 Feliciano appeared in a staggering 408 games – 27 more than anyone else in MLB – and he pitched to a very respectable 3.09 ERA with more than twice the strikeouts (280) than walks (125). Feliciano broke Mike Stanton’s club record of 83 appearances in 2008, then broke it again in 2009 and set the standing team record in 2010 with 92 appearances. Sadly, Feliciano passed away in 2021 at age 45 after being diagnosed with a genetic heart condition during his final season with the team. “Pedro Feliciano will be remembered as a beloved member of the Mets organization for his impact as a great teammate, as well as his reputation as one of the most competitive, durable and reliable relievers during his time in Queens,” said the team in a release upon his death.
