As the Mets assembled the team that would finally compete after years of frustrated hopes, Tommie Agee provided the power bat that was lacking. He came to the team in a 1968 trade to provide the offensive lift the Mets needed. Agee’s defense and his offense helped the team cement the victory in the World Series that year. Agee spent three more seasons with the Mets and retired in 1973.
