A Record Breaking Lineup

With the help of a 10-run fifth inning, the Mets throttled the Phillies in Philadelphia, 24-4. It marked the first time the Mets scored 24 runs in a game and the first time they won by 20 runs. The Mets sent 15 men to the plate in the fifth including Jose Bautista who drove in five runs with a single and a grand slam. Combined with the 16 runs scored in the previous game at Baltimore, the Mets became the first team to score 40 runs over two consecutive games since 1953.
