Carlos Beltrán wasted no time in making his presence felt. On Opening Day in 2005 he had three hits against Cincinnati including a home run against former Met Paul Wilson. Beltrán hit .302 with six home runs, 10 doubles and 25 RBIs before a quadriceps injury slowed him on May 21.
